Roundball Chatter over the weekend

By Andrew Ferrell

Time once again for the Mad Hatter to pick the games of the weekend. The three boys' teams continue their conference schedule over the weekend, while the girls' teams begin to finish out the regular season. Wrestling has the biggest weekend of all as all three schools travel for their conference meets.  Other than that, same ole, same ole in the sports community.

Boys' basketball

Churubusco @ Angola at 7:30 pm on Friday night

Going to be close, but no where near the 122-118 score that Tuesday night saw when the Eagles won in double overtime against the Leo Lions. Possibly an overtime game though, with Angola sneaking out the win, only because they are at home.

Busco 67 Angola 69

Columbia City @ DeKalb at 7:45 pm on Saturday night

Should be just another game for the Eagles. Although this is being played at DeKalb, which intrigues the Mad Hatter just a smidgen. The Eagles enjoy  the bus ride home.

CC 60 DeKalb 50

Whitko @ Northfield at 7:45 pm on Friday night

This could turn out to be a problem for the Wildcats, they are on a 2-game losing streak and do need this win to get back to .500. The third times a charm and Whitko sparks a 4th quarter comeback to pick up the much needed win.

Whitko 57 Northfield 49

Girls' basketball

Churubusco @ Angola at 6:00 pm on Friday night

The Lady Eagles have been through a lot this season, especially with a 3-12 record. Given that the Lady Eagles are 0-7 on the road, the Mad Hatter says, "Better luck next time," to Churubusco. Sorry girls.

Busco 35 Angola 49

Columbia City vs. DeKalb at 7:45 on Friday night

Tonight's match up is going to be a classic. Good thing it is at Columbia City because if it wasn't, the Mad Hatter thinks the outcome would be different. Columbia City is better than their record suggests and they our riding the wave of a 5-game winning streak, make that six after tonight.

CC 62 DeKalb 61

Whitko vs. Northfield at 1;30 pm on Saturday afternoon (Senior night)

Senior night and the Wildcats have one senior on the team. The Lady Wildcats have finally started to come around, once conference play began.  Whitko gives their lone senior a good farewell.

Whitko 41 Northfield 37

Wrestling conference predictions

Columbia City places 4th in the NHC, Whitko wins the TRC, and Churubusco 3rd in the NECC.

O ya, Colts by ten against the Jets in the AFC championship. Vikings by three against the Saints in the NFC championship.
