Gabriella Lawrence achieved perfect attendance

Gabriella “Ellie” Lawrence, daughter of Trent and Meghan Lawrence of Columbia City, set a goal big goal for herself and achieved perfect attendance this year at school.

 

She attends Mary Raber and just finished kindergarten.

 

“Perfect attendance was a goal we set early in the year and are very pleased to have accomplished,” said her mother, Meghan.

Happy Birthday Richard Phend!

Columbia City High School Alumni Association president Richard Phend celebrated his birthday, June 3, in the city yesterday among family and friends. The family enjoyed their birthday favorite -- strawberry shortcake with fresh berries.

Phend, a graduate of the CCHS Class of 1951, is now resident of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Phend is in town this week to attend a funeral and to attend the CCHS graduation on Friday night.

Congratulations to the Whitley County 4-H Share the Fun talent show winners. The county winners included, first place: Hannah Ruppert; second place: CeCe Cherry & Alyson Nicodemus; and third place: Joel Genth & Michaela Michel. 

Teachers and staff at Faith Christian Academy...

Congratulations to the teachers and staff at Faith Christian Academy for another successful year. Teachers include Nicole Thompson, Susan Lewis, Cathy Shively and Karen Van Voorst. Staff includes administrative assistant Kathy Bills and interim administrator Nicole Trier. Their commitment to excellence in education and commitment to teaching in a Christian environment is exemplary.

Whitko Middle School "Dress Up Days"...

Congratulations to Whitko Middle School students Michael Dimmick, Luke Senseny, Zach Nave and Conner Strouder who coordinated a fundraising effort at their school, raising $1200 to support Oxfam International, providing dairy goats to African families, and Nothing But Nets, an organization that fights malaria. The students paid $1 per day to participate in various dress-up events at the school. The top fundraising class was Mrs. Knepple's homeroom.
