Prom memories made for all thanks to giving nature of a few
Recently I was honored to be a part of a project that helped make dreams come true for some very deserving young adults at Columbia City High School.
What began as a small idea two years ago to help some students attend Prom has now became a community effort that has resulted in an overwhelming display of kindness and giving. Some of these students had special needs and would not have been able to go to Prom had it not been for the effort of others.
I would like to take a moment to thank the following people who gave of themselves: Dr. O’Conner and Whitley County Consolidated Schools; Jennifer Reiff and the staff of Columbia City High School; Sandy Kohut who runs the Prom Dress Giveaway; Melanie Bechtold and the Prom Committee; Margaret Saurin and Bandido’s restaurant for hosting our dinner; Chuck Kristek with JC Penney’s who spent his morning outfitting our young men with suits, ties and shirts and then offered a huge savings for us; Joe and Mary Sutton; H.A.N.D.S. Foundation; Cathy Heritier and Bravo Baskets for the flowers; Chad Moore Photography for the photos at Prom; Circle of Friends; and Keith and Sandy Kohut, Missy Gregg, Brad and Meredith Boyles and Katie Fetterolf for chaperoning.
Their support, time, and extra effort helped to make everything possible and such an awe-inspiring success.
