Free colorectal cancer screening kits available courtesy of Parkview's CHI program

Since 2005, Parkview Hospital’s Community Health Improvement Program has provided thousands of free EZ Detect colorectal cancer screening kits to individuals in northeast Indiana. EZ Detect kits provide a simple way to do blood stool screenings at home.

Once again the kits are being offered free to the public, and are available in the front lobby and in the Emergency Department lobby of Parkview Whitley Hospital, and at Whitley County Parkview FirstCare offices (formerly Parkview Medical Group):

Churubusco – 4084 North US33

Columbia City – 360 North Oak St., 524 Branch Court and 855 Connexion Way, Suite 300

South Whitley – 4665 SR5

If diagnosed and treated in the early stages, colorectal cancer is highly curable. Beginning at age 50 (45 for African-American men and women), Parkview and the American Cancer Society recommend that people at average risk for developing colon cancer have a fecal occult blood test yearly and a colonoscopy every 10 years. People with higher risk factors may need to begin screening at an earlier age.

The EZ Detect test kit by Biomerica is easy to use in the privacy of one’s home. For more information, call 1-877-784-4673. Parkview’s Community Health Improvement Program funds the EZ Detect initiative. For more information, call 1-877-784-4673 or visit www.parkview.com.
