Whitley County welcomes first baby of the year -- Nathan Dwight Everett Leazier

Almost three days into the new year, Whitley County  welcomed its first baby of 2009 was born late in the evening on January 2 at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
Nathan Dwight Everett Leazier was born at 11:03 p.m. on January 2, 2009, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, to April Speakman and Travis Leazier, both of Columbia City.
The new baby, delivered by Brian Haley, M.D., weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and measured 19-3/4 inches at birth. He is the couple’s first child.
To honor the occasion, the new mom received a gift basket from Parkview Whitley Hospital that included various baby gifts including a handmade blanket made by an employee’s mother.
Additionally, a gift bag filled with baby-related items from the hospital gift shop was also donated to the new mom courtesy of the Parkview Whitley Hospital volunteer auxiliary.
The baby’s maternal grandparents are Cindy Lars of Columbia City and Rollie Speakman of New Haven His paternal grandparents include Michelle Leazier of Fort Wayne and Donny Leazier of Columbia City.
