About Talk of The Town...

The Romano Family
Born of a passion for promoting the many good things happening in our community, Talk of the Town is Whitley County's newest online media source.
Talk of the Town is proud to be locally owned and independently operated by Jennifer Zartman Romano, a lifelong Whitley County resident with roots in this county dating back to 1848. A graduate of Columbia City High School, she holds a bachelor of arts in Communication from Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne. Professionally, she has served in an editorial capacity and a writer for several newspapers and publications in the region over the course of her 15 year career. In addition to sharing the news of our community, she enjoys volunteering for many local non-profit organizations, spending summers at the lake, camping, various creative endeavors and devoting time to her family. She and her husband, Tony, are the proud parents of a son, James, and daughter, Mahri.
Talk of the Town is supported entirely by advertisers and individuals that care about positive news and supporting everything wonderful Whitley County has to offer.
This newly-launched website is a place where we can be proud of what our non-profit organizations are doing, celebrate our triumphs and tout our business community. Additionally, we hope it will be an alternative place to share news about your anniversaries, weddings, engagements, babies, religious celebrations, career advancements, company expansions and more.
The site features not only a place for news, but an expansive calendar, a forum for interacting and discussion with your family, friends, neighbors and associates. Talk of the Town currently features two columns -- Jennifer Zartman Romano's weekly column "Retrospective" and the widely-read "Letters from Iraq" penned by a Whitley County native currently serving in the War on Terror. In his own words, we'll learn about his experiences on the frontlines.
In time, we plan to add even more to this site and we hope you'll visit daily to learn more about what is happening in our community. I want this site to be a place open to the positive exchange of information, ideas and points of view. We're still developing and adding new areas each day.

Jennifer, I wish to thank you for the wonderful nomination letter you wrote about Stephanie and Shawn.
Just wanted you to know that Stephanie pulled Jeannie Amstutz out of her house fire at Loon Lake on 20 May, Tuesday. The Columbia City Post & Mail did not mention this and I think she needs just a little mention somewhere. I am very proud of her.
Love your on-line paper.
Steph's mom,
Barb Halsey

Great to see your insightful work on display here. This looks like the local publication that "gets it". Keep it up!

What a great site! Photographs are excellent and stories are what we really want to know about.
